Animal Kingdom savannah view for my 2 boys sounds great. Do rental cars need car seats? Does parking and getting to the park gates take the same amount of time as wating for a bus? what about parking at other hotels for meals?

    Denise:

Thanks for coming back to the Mom's Panel!

Every rental car company is different, but many will rent you a car seat if you do not have one. (When we had little ones, we checked them like luggage on the plane. MUCH easier to pay for one of those luggage carts to haul them around the airport than pay $10 a day for each seat we rented...)

In my experience, especially at the Value and Moderate resorts and certainly at the campground, getting in my car and parking at the theme park was definitely faster than walking to the resort's bus stop, waiting on the bus, and in most cases making a few stops along the way. Additionally, if I have to take my kids out of the stroller for a ride on a Disney bus, I might as well do that for my car...The exception is Magic Kingdom. I definitely recommend park transportation by monorail, ferry, or bus before car as its parking lot is not within walking distance of the park.

With all this said, however, I don't recommend everyone driving their own car to the parks. Signage at Disney is not the best, so if it's your first visit, you're not a navigator nor have a good map, it may not be worth the headache. I know plenty of folks who like to sit back and let someone else do the driving when they are on vacation!

Lastly, if you have a reservation at one of the hotels for a meal, you'll simply stop at the guard shack at the entrance, give them your name and park in the hotel lot--for free.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
