Animals in the Savannah at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge; giraffe

    We’re going to Animal Kingdom Lodge to eat at Boma and are wondering what time the campfire is running in December?

    Thanks for visiting planDisney! Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just around the corner, I'm happy to help answer your question so you'll be set when you visit Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House. 

    Just thinking about Boma - Flavors of Africa brings back memories of the incredible meals I’ve enjoyed there! This fantastic Table Service location is found at one of my favorite Deluxe Resorts where Guests can dine, stroll, and spot animals such as giraffes, zebras and wildebeests grazing on the savanna. The Boma Buffet menu offers a rotating menu filled with mouth-watering options like Durban Roasted Chicken, Peanut Rice or Coconut Rice, Oak Roast Port Ribs and Spiced Green Beans with Golden Raisins - but I highly recommend saving room for a Zebra Dome (or two!). 

    I'm so glad you asked about the campfires, my kids have made this a tradition for our family. They can't get enough of the complimentary marshmallow roasting and the sticky fingers that follow. If your travel party enjoys making S'mores, the Cast Members assisting with the campfire will have S'mores kits available for purchase. The campfire is held nightly at the Arusha Savanna Overlook from 6:00-7:00 PM. Guests can access the Arusha Savanna Overlook through the Main Lobby and will have views of the savanna while enjoying the campfire's glow. The campfire is next to a little pond where you might spot a Pink-Backed Pelican hanging out. On our last visit, my daughters spotted several pelicans there - they were the closest we'd ever seen! 

    As you make your way back to your car or the Walt Disney World bus, take a few minutes to admire the life-size Baby Giraffe and Baby Zebra crafted entirely from gingerbread by the talented Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge bakery team. Be sure to check out their selection of delectable gingerbread treats and specialty cocktails available for purchase. If you’re a pin collector, don’t miss the chance to snag the limited-edition pin - you might want to add it to your wishlist!
