Will be at Animal Kingdom in Dec with 7 yrs boy, are there any character breakfast/unch/dinners there? what other special attractions will they have in Dec? Any suggestions for a day itinerary? Thank you!

    Hi Regina!

December is a perfect time to visit Disney! And being from New York, it will also be a great time to enjoy some milder weather :-)

Animal Kingdom only serves up 1 character meal here:

The Tusker House Restaurant has Donald's Dining Safari for breakfast and lunch. Enjoy a meal with all of Disney's iconic characters Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy.

However, they do have some other unique dining experiences:

Rainforest Cafe-have a zoo of a time at Rainforest Cafe'. Watch wild animals come to life (they are actually mechanical) near your eating stations. Gorillas, birds, lions, and an "at-the-Amazon" feel.

The Flame Tree Barbeque is a quick service restaurant that lets you eat outside. You can chill by the lake and watch the ducks and other animals. Just watch out, because some do like to get close looking for food, which the staff encourage to not feed them..

There's not too many eateries here, compared to, say, Magic Kingdom. But what's there should keep you fed.

In terms of what to do: If you plan on watching many of the live animals here, try doing this early in the day. As the days drags on, and start to get late afternoon or evening, the animals have a tendency to head to their quarters. Look to do Kilimanjaro Safari, the Jungle Trek, the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, and especially the petting zoo Affection Section (will take train to get there). All of these were highly enjoyable for my children, ages 8 and 4.

Also, around mid-day in December, they have Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade. Take a moment out your day to take this in. And be ready to dance or shimmy a little. It's very entertaining :-)

Hope you and son have a "Roar" of a Time on your trip!
