    Hi Andrea, We used a concierge service to book our disney vacation scheduled for May. It's time to pay the balance and we are being offered travel insurance. Is it something we should buy? Thanks

    Purchasing Travel Insurance is a very personal decision, so I'd hate to tell you which way to go with this one (your circumstances may be completely different than mine.)

    When deciding if we'll purchase Travel Insurance, I look to see what the likelihood is that we'll need to cancel or reschedule our trip. For example, if one of our kids comes down with a cold, will we decide to stay home? If any of the applicable reasons for cancelling or rescheduling make you think twice about skipping the purchase, then the peace of mind you'll get from having done so may be worth the cost. On the other hand, if you look at the reasons for cancelling and decide that few of them would apply to you, then you may regret your decision to purchase insurance for this trip.

    In other words? Consider the likely (and unlikely) possibilities and decide accordingly.

    Because we book directly through Walt Disney World or Disney Vacation Club, both of which have great cancellation policies, we rarely take advantage of Travel Insurance. However, if I book through an outside agency, whose cancellation policy is more stringent, I'd be more likely to purchase the insurance.
