Hi Andrea, you replied to my question on the 26th feb 2012 regarding our first family trip to Disney. We are staying th Saratoga spa resort and you gave use some great tips. Do you have any more great tips about meeting the characters or about our hotel?

    Hello, Debbie!

So glad to hear from you again!

You really are going to love Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa; I just walked around the resort yesterday and was reminded how really lovely the architecture and landscaping are, as well as how fantastic High Rock Spring Pool is for all Guests!

FYI: The Spa at Disney's SSR offers spa treatments for children between the ages 4-12.  Imagine taking your princess for a "My First Manicure" or "My First Pedicure" while the boys splash down the nearby pool or hang out in the arcade. For a list of treatments available, go to the (un-Disney-affiliated) relaxedyet.com, hover over the tab "Spa Locations," then select "The Saratoga Springs Spa" for more information.

Another great feature about this resort is Community Hall. Guests can enjoy foosball, shuffleboard and a variety of arts and crafts each day. When you check in, you'll receive a schedule of that week's daily activities. There are coloring pages and other hands-on activities, too, to help keep your little ones happy, even on a rainy day! DVDs are available for rental as well, should you feel that a nice, quiet movie night is just what the family needs at some point.

For meeting characters, focus on seeing the majors at your character dining, so you won't have to waste time waiting in line to see them in the parks. If you have a smartphone, get the free app Disney's Mobile Magic, which will list where to find your favorite characters throughout the parks. Once inside each park, pick up a Times Guide, along with a park map, which lists character greeting times and locations in that specific park. If you have specific characters you're looking for, send me another question so I can let you know where the chances are greatest to find them!
