Hi Andrea, I too am a newly empty nester as I have two boys, one who just graduated college and the other just entered college. We are excited to be going to Disney this May. What are some tips/fun things to do in Disney as a family of "adults"?

Hello Julie, and thank you for bringing your question to me at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I enjoyed watching my daughter grow up during many trips to the Walt Disney World Resort over the years. Now that she is a young adult, we have even more fun together.

My number one tip is, if you are a guest of a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, is to visit the park that has Extra Magic Hours in the morning. This allows us to experience some of our favorite attractions with minimal wait time.

Now that your boys are older, you can explore many more of the fine dining options throughout the resort. On a recent trip with some friends and family, I discovered Paddlefish at Disney Springs and Chefs de France. The offerings at both restaurants were absolutely magnificent.

I would also like to suggest that you end your day with one of the special fireworks dessert parties. Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the force will be with you as you feast on scrumptious desserts before a small garrison of Storm Troopers escort you to your reserved viewing area. It will definitely be a day long remembered.

My family and I also have a rule that bedtimes to not exist while we are on a Disney Vacation. One perk of being an “adult.” If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to stop by and visit us again.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea

I have made 30 trips and counting to the Walt Disney World Resort in all stages of life since 1972 as a small child, a young mom with a toddler and now as an empty nester. The love of vacation planning runs strong in my family. My uncle had it, I have it and with my help, you will have it too. Learn More About Andrea
