Andrea helped me out alot in my last question. I am not sure whether to buy a resale, a new sale, or points under my brother's membership. If I buy poijnts yearly under my brother's membership, does my brother actually have to be there when I check in?

So glad to hear from you, Diane!

No, if you give your brother money to buy additional Disney Vacation Club Membership under his current Membership account, he does not have to be present when you check in.

That being said, keep in mind that you won't technically be a Member of Disney Vacation Club; your brother is, so you will lose those benefits you might have if you purchase a Disney Vacation Club Membership on your own.  (For example, DVC Members, at this time, receive a discount on Annual Passes, but Members need to show proof of residence at the same address.)

In addition, DVC has recently changed its Member privileges, based on purchase of resale versus DVC purchases.  Ask your brother to log into, and look at the "News" section of the website, under "What's New", for an update on benefits for those making Resale Purchases.  Base your decision on your travel plans and what you can, or cannot do, according to these policies.

I know that we've really enjoyed all of the extra travel opportunities we've had because of our Disney Vacation Club Membership.  Be sure to send me your additional questions and, of course, call Disney Vacation Club at (877) 382-7826 for more information. We'd all love to help!
