Hey, Penny!
Oh, I'm so happy to hear that one of my fellow Alabamians is headed to Alaska on the Disney Wonder! You're going to love it -- the scenery is breath-taking and the people are incredibly friendly. In fact, we came across several "transplanted" Southerners who were working up there for the summer. What a great way to beat the heat!
Thanks for tuning in on the Passporter"s Podcast -- Jennifer and Sara do a fantastic job of keeping Disney guests informed. Since you listened in, you know that the primary reason I was on the cruise was to film a video series for Disney Cruise Line about the
7-night Alaskan Voyage. The videos give a day-by-day account of what there is to do for families both on and off the ship, and since my family consists of teens down to little ones, we were able to experience a variety of activities, events and Port Adventures.
In Ketchikan, we set off on the
Rain Forest Island Adventure. Because the watercraft was smaller than anything we had been on in those waters, we could get so close to the shore and see the animals so clearly. The bald eagles and their gigantic nests were the talk of the boat. And speaking of the boat, it was fast -- and because of that, the wind was cold. I was thankful to have dressed the kids in layers. Once we got to the island, the hike got our blood circulating again, and the hot chocolate and coffee helped, too. Back on shore, we also visited Potlatch Park where the little guys painted part of a totem, and we ended our day at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show -- which is situated close to the ship.
I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have more questions. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation.
Bon voyage,
Andi
