Hi Andi! We also live in Alabama and we are booked on Disney Fantasy for June 2012. Can you recommend any hotels close to port that we could stay at the night before departure as I want to make sure that we are in the area before departure.

Hi, Alison from my beautiful home state of Alabama -- and you're booked on the Disney Fantasy next summer?  How exciting!

I have a few suggestions for you as you plan to stay in the area the night before you sail:

    • Consider staying at a Walt Disney World (WDW) Resort. To me, there's nothing like staying at Disney, and to be surrounded by the magic of a Disney resort helps rev up the excitement for the next day's departure.  And whether you're driving or flying, you are only about an hour from the port, and there is ground transportation available from WDW to the port and back to the airport. Plus, you can plan to have a character meal or enjoy entertainment at Downtown Disney the night before your cruise.
    • If you're flying, the Hyatt Regency at the Orlando International Airport is a comfortable and convenient option for Disney Cruise Line guests. You can arrange for ground transportation which leaves regularly from the airport, and you can check in for your cruise at Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center.
    • There are several hotels in the Port Canaveral area, and you can look up reviews and suggestions on, and  I've heard that The Radisson, Residence Inn, Country Inn & Suites, the Holiday Inn and Best Western on Cocoa Beach, the Comfort Inn and the Hampton Inn are among the favorites.

I hope that helps you plan, and please let me know if I can help you further with your planning. Have a beautiful Alabama day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
