    Andi, we too are going on the Alaska cruise later this summer. We'd love to hear feedback on your trip including what to pack, weather, excursions and what not to miss. Thank you.

    Hi, Charissa!

    I am in the process right now of gathering things for our Alaskan cruise this summer, and I've done a great deal of research in anticipation. I'm going to give you a quick list of what I've learned so far...but if you write back in a few weeks, I'll be brimming with the details!

    Here's what I know:

    • Pack layers. It's colder in the morning and evenings and warmer in the afternoons. Make sure everyone has a light, collapsible backpack or sling bag to store those layers which everyone will inevitably start to peel in port.
    • Bug spray and sunscreen. I hear the bugs are big and the sun is intense...especially on the glaciers.
    • Binoculars. Don't scrimp on the quality or the zoom. The wildlife is plentiful but may not be that close to the ship.
    • Leave room in your suitcase or bring along an empty one for souvenirs.

    For our Port Adventures, we're doing the dog mushing, the lumberjack show, gold mining, zip lining and Mendenhall Glacier. Let me know what you're thinking, and I'll check those out while on board or nearby. Also, let me know the ages of any children traveling with you.  We have a wide age disparity...so we'll have to split up for some Port Adventures.
