Hi Luann!
Thanks for visiting with your question about
Dining at Walt Disney World Resort - I'm happy to help!
Restaurants often book tables in a way to maximize seating opportunities for the largest number of guests. For example, a table that fits four might be assigned to parties of three or four, rather than two, to avoid leaving empty seats. This is why you might see availability for three people but not for two.
Chef Mickey’s at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is extremely popular, especially for breakfast and brunch, and smaller tables may book up quickly. When booking opens, larger parties might snap up available spots first, leaving fewer options for smaller groups.
If you see availability for three people, I would go ahead and book it, and then try to modify the reservation until the date of your reservation. If you're unable to modify it before your arrival, you should be able to adjust your party size by one guest when you check in for your reservation. Sometimes slots for two may open up closer to your reservation date, and you can adjust the party size accordingly.
On the day of your visit, you could also use the
My Disney Experience Mobile App to check for
walk-up availability. Sometimes, last-minute slots open up, and you might get lucky with a table for two! Cancellations happen frequently, especially as people’s plans change closer to their reservation date. Continue checking the app regularly for any openings for two people.
I hope this helps, and you’ll soon be enjoying a magical meal at Chef Mickey’s. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question, Luann!!
