Are American Express gift cards accepted for payments in the parks at Walt Disney World?

    Hi Janna,

Thanks for visiting planDisney! I see that, like me, you live in Florida, so I hope your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World is one of many you get to enjoy in 2026. Using a prepaid gift card is one of my favorite ways to keep track of how much my family is spending on incidentals during our visits, especially during special events such as the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. We get a Disney Gift Card loaded with the amount we intend to spend, and that pre-established budget helps us be sure we don't get carried away on treats and souvenirs.

Gift cards from major credit card companies normally function just like the credit card wherever the card is accepted. American Express is one of the forms of payment officially accepted at Walt Disney World, so it should work just fine for you. You even should be able to add the gift card to your My Disney Experience account under My Payment Methods.

If you'd rather not stress about whether or not it will function properly, you could use your American Express gift card to purchase a Disney gift card before your visit from your local supermarket, Disney Store, warehouse club or discount store.

I hope that helps, Janna. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you.

    Enjoy!
