Hi Amanda. I was on Space Mountain (Disneyland) 20 yrs ago and found it very rough. But I heard that Space Mountain has been upgraded since then. What is the ride like now? My kids want to ride it but I don't know if we should?

    Hi there Lisa,

I am a fan of Space Mountain and always have been but I will admit I do find it a bit rickety at times...more so the older I get!  I actually prefer Disneyland's version to Walt Disney World's as it seems to be a much smoother ride and I like the side-by-side seating arrangement better too!

I was in a similar situation with my then 5-year old daughter.  She finally met the height requirement and I could see the excitement in her eyes as she realized she measured up.  I said "what the heck" and decided to give her the go ahead.  It was a mistake.  She just wasn't ready. That said, I think it really just depends on the ages of your children and their tolerance for bumpy, dark attractions.

Don't get me wrong...I love the nostalgia of Space Mountain as it is a part of my childhood and because of that I wouldn't want to see it changed too much. Although improvements have been made over the years, that bumpy track is part of the experience and par for the course.  I think everyone should ride at some point, but I wouldn't recommend it for children under 7!

    Best Wishes,

    Amanda F.
