HI Amanda! In your honest opinion, do you feel that it is worth the extra $$$ to stay at a Disney Resort hotel as opposed to a Good Neighbour hotel? What are the benefits aside from the Extra Magic Hour each morning?

    Hi there Emma,

I have definitely spent my fair share of nights at Disney Good Neighbor hotels and there are a few located within walking distance to Downtown Disney and the Disneyland theme parks. While I have saved money at times, I will say that nothing beats the convenience, service, and magic of staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel.

If you choose the Grand Californian, you can simply walk out of your room, through the beautiful lobby and "BAM"... you can head one way into Downtown Disney or the other way which leads to a special guest-only entrance to California Adventure!

Disneyland Hotel is located mere footsteps away from the Disneyland Monorail line which offers non-stop service to Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park and you can travel from your room to the shopping and dining of Downtown Disney in minutes!

Paradise Pier is a little farther away, but fear not... a valet Cast Member will happily transport you via golf cart to one of the adjacent hotels from which you can easily access both theme parks and Downtown Disney.

If you do decide to stay at a Good Neighbor, my favorite is the Anabella Hotel which is  located just across the street from Paradise Pier.  I prefer the Mission Suites and Premier Rooms to the standard option and in my opinion, the upgrade is worth the money!  This hotel also has a great restaurant on property!

    Best Wishes,

    Amanda F.
