I have always wanted to go to disney. When is the best time to go and how old does my child need to be to enjoy everything? she's only 1 right now

Amanda, of course you have always wanted to go to Walt Disney World! Who doesn't want to fly with Peter Pan, sail with pirates, conquer mountains, and meet royalty all in one day?

The Disney parks are truly for all ages. A 90 year old great grandma and a one year old toddler can both have a fabulous time eating Mickey ice cream bars, viewing the fireworks and parades, and cruising on "it's a small world". I've take my children when their ages were measured in weeks, but if a trip to visit Mickey will be a rare event for your family consider waiting until your little one is a bit older.

Around the age of four, your princess will probably adore the Disney princesses, Disney Junior characters, and Winnie the Pooh and Minnie. Preschoolers are an ideal age to bring to WDW because they are young enough to be enchanted by the magic and fairy tale wonder, but old enough to enjoy the parades, shows, and rides. If you are so excited you want to see Cinderella Castle much sooner, go ahead. Your daughter will delight in her Disney experience no matter how young.

If your schedule allows, plan your visit for September or early October. The heat and humidity of summer are over and crowds are low. Most families are reluctant to take their kids out of school so early in the year, so the parks tend to have fewer guests.

I'm so excited about your first trip to the mouse! The Disney Parks Moms Panel is here to help you with each step of planning, so please turn to us with any questions you have.
