I’ve always wanted to experience the park during the holidays. Seven years ago, we had planned a Disneyland vacation leaving right after Christmas that was derailed when I was in an automobile accident that nearly took my life. I want to try to pull it off

Hi there, Ryan, and welcome to planDisney! I am happy to welcome you here, and I hope you have healed from what sounds like a very scary experience.

The Disneyland Resort is more than a vacation destination. It is a place where lifelong memories are made and where the magic as a way of finding us the moment we step through the gates. I can think of no better place to celebrate life, mend the heart, and create new memories, especially during the most wonderful time of the year.

The holidays return to the Disneyland Resort on November 13, 2026, and continue through January 6, 2027! You'll find festive overlays on "it's a small world" Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday, along with plenty of holiday sparkle throughout Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park and seasonal touches across the parks and Downtown Disney District. It's the kind of season that wraps the resort in a serious extra pixie dust.

If it's available during your visit, I highly recommend looking into a Dining Package that includes a delicious meal and reserved viewing for the "Believe... In Holiday Magic" Fireworks Spectacular. It sounds like you've had a long road to recovery, and this could be a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the fireworks, the snow, and all the holiday magic without spending hours saving a viewing spot beforehand. I did a reserved viewing package last December, and it was practically perfect in every way.

I took a look at availability for the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, and there is currently availability! While I don't know how long you'd like to stay, I checked a week beginning December 26, 2026, and all three hotels were showing availability when I looked.

The Disneyland Hotel is the original icon of the resort, with rooms that celebrate Walt Disney and his incredible legacy. The lobby feels both whimsical and welcoming, and I love the charming teacup seating scattered throughout. Pixar Place Hotel is bright, colorful, and filled with Pixar-inspired artwork. Boasting recently renovated rooms, it offers comfortable, modern accommodations with plenty of personality. My personal favorite is Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Between the beautiful Craftsman-style design, convenient location, and luxurious atmosphere, it feels like stepping into a cozy holiday postcard. The stunning lobby is a destination all on its own, complete with a grand fireplace and, often, live piano music that makes you want to sit and stay awhile.

This is a popular time of year to visit, so if one of those hotels is calling your name, I would encourage you to book as soon as possible. Holiday reservations can disappear faster than cookies at Santa's workshop!

Ryan, I am glad to hear you're thinking about taking the vacation that was interrupted all those years ago. I hope you're doing well, and I love the idea of creating new memories in a place filled with hope, joy, and magic. If you have any other questions, would like more planning tips, or need help deciding which hotel is the perfect fit, we're always happy to help.

    Happy holidays!
