Hi Cynthia! I've had friends ask the same question. Like you, we usually purchase the
Disney Dining Plan when we visit Walt Disney World Resort, I think it’s a great value and I love the convenience. I'm able to stretch that value further by making some meals like breakfast in our villa and quick snacks there too.
Since we typically only hit Walt Disney World once a year and neither my husband nor I are big drinkers, the
Tables in Wonderland card really doesn’t make sense for us. But I do have friends that love Tables in Wonderland card and consider it a great deal because they enjoy wine and cocktails with dinner. And, since the 20% covers up to 10 people it’s a great benefit for large parties dining together.
If you plan to visit Walt Disney World Resort at least 1 more time within a year then you'll benefit from the savings of the Tables in Wonderland card since it's good for a year. With a 5 night stay before your Disney Vacation Club member cruise, you could do both the Tables in Wonderland card and the Disney Dining Plan if you don't plan on using the kitchen in your villa. Based on your plans that cost would be roughly $780 for the Disney Dining Plan + $100 for the Tables in Wonderland card. Remember tax and gratuity are extra with both.
I always cook some meals, particularly if we've used double entitlements for a special character dining experience. With the Table in Wonderland card you'll save 20% off any items that are not included in the Disney Dining Plan, like wine and appetizers. However, if your children are not big eaters, then I would skip the Disney Dining Plan this trip because you can save with them sharing meals and get 20% off overall.
I hope that helps to answer your question. Wishing you a magical vacation!
