We always drive down but are flying this time..every vacay we've ever taken, someone always ends up in an urgent care, always. What are our options w/out a car? Does Disney World have doctors? Thanks!

Hi Dawn! No one wants to plan on having to visit a doctor while on vacation but when you head to Walt Disney World you can be assured that if the need arises you have some good options to get excellent care.

Every park has a first aid station operated by licensed nurses if you happen to need some assistance during the park hours. They can handle simple things such as headaches, scrapes, bug bites, and sunburns. There are also two urgent care centers located within a short distance from Disney and at least one of them is open 24 hours a day. You would need to get a taxi service to reach them but they are not far. Centra Care will offer van service to pick you up and return you to your room if necessary. The Lake Buena Vista area number is 407-934-2273 or centracare.org.

The service I have used in the past is "Doctors on Call". All the Disney resorts would have their latest information and numbers available to you. They will come directly to the resort and your hotel room to treat you. These are licensed physicians and from my experience they are all very good and very personable.  The number for this group is 407-399-DOCS. They will come out for calls 24 hours of the day and night. I prefer this service to going out to an urgent care facility because whoever is in need of medical service can remain comfortable in their bed and room in a relaxed situation. You aren't waiting in a waiting room with other ill people. My daughter had strep throat and the doctor was quite thorough with her and was able to give her the first dose of the medication immediately. He then called in the prescription to a local pharmacy that had it delivered to the resort within just a couple of hours. It was an amazing, helpful, and painless experience for all of us.

Keep planning and relax now knowing Disney will help you get the assistance whatever it might be that you need during your vacation!
