    is there always a 5k on castaway and if so how do you sign up

    Greetings, John. Thanks for sailing over to planDisney with your question! I am so excited to hear that you'll be visiting Disney Castaway Cay on your upcoming Disney Cruise. It was an absolute highlight of my cruise last December, and I know you will have a blast. 

    To answer your question - yes! There is a 5k on Castaway Cay. It used to be a more formal event that required advanced signup, but that is no longer the case. It is run or walked at your own pace and is available to Guests 10 and older. There is no need to sign up ahead of time! Just exit the ship at your leisure and follow the signs for the 5K. If you need directions, ask a Cast Member at the Bike Rentals stand. I recommend getting an early start as the course can get incredibly warm and sunny as the day goes on. Be sure to hike up the Observation Tower for a breathtaking view of the island and a picture-perfect photo opp! When you complete the 5K, grab your finisher medal at the Bike Rentals area.
