Hiya Bobbie!
Welcome Home and welcome back to planDisney! Bobbie, don't you just love how
Disney Vacation Club can show you the world? Dazzling places you never knew can be explored with the flexibility of your Disney Vacation Club Membership, and it's just one of the many benefits to take advantage of as a Member. My parents have gone on two
Adventures by Disney vacations, one to Peru and one to Alaska, and they have raved about these experiences. Using their
Disney Vacation Points to see the world with a world-class company like Disney, including the opportunity to enjoy unique experiences not available to everyone, just reinforced the value that DVC Membership affords us.
Now, with the addition of
National Geographic Expeditions, you can really see even more of the world Bobbie! Adventure is out there and this added option definitely gives us more opportunities to discover it.
Bobbie, both
Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions offer tours to destinations around the world. The difference between them really boils down to itineraries. When deciding on which one to use your Vacation Points, you can look at the destinations, itineraries and Vacation Point requirements for each company on the Disney Vacation Club website.
One thing I have noticed, Bobbie, is that you will see a lot more tours if you go directly to the National Geographic Expedition website. However, the
ones listed on the Disney Vacation Club site with the Vacation Points Charts are the ones for which you can use your Vacation Points to book. Any National Geographic Expeditions tours not listed are not currently available to book with Disney Vacation Points. The same is true for
Adventures by Disney, and you will notice there are many more tours available to use your Disney Vacation Points for an
Adventures by Disney excursion.
Additionally, the Vacation Point costs of the excursions differ. When you look at the
Adventures by Disney list on the Disney Vacation Club website, you will notice the
Vacation Point Charts for adults and children, but National Geographic Expeditions has a single occupancy chart and a double occupancy chart and the ones on this list appear to cost more Vacation Points than those on
Adventures by Disney. However, you may be more interested in those destinations or itineraries so it may work better for you.
Bobbie, if you have a destination in mind, I recommend looking to see if you see it on both lists. Then look to see if the length of the tour and itinerary is of interest, and then finally, if the Vacation Points requirements or cost fits your budget. For example, I looked at both companies for our trip to Costa Rica. Both offer amazing excursions, but the itineraries, length of trip, and costs differed. Once you have made a choice, contact
Member Services who can help you make the booking.
I hope this helps you, Bobbie. If you have any more Disney Vacation Club questions, stop back and see me and I'll be so happy to help you, neighbor!
See ya real soon!
Keri
