If I already have a magic key and Disneyland later offers the SAME key with added benefits (for example, more reservations, larger discounts), do I have to wait until my pass is up and renew to get any additional benefits or can I get the better benefits?

Hey there, hi there, Robyn! Welcome to planDisney. We are thrilled you stopped by to ask us a really great Magic Key question.

It sounds like you may already be a Magic Key holder, like me, or maybe it's just something you are seriously considering. Just last week, the Inspire and Believe Magic Keys became available for purchase again if you were waiting! Sadly, my magical powers don't allow me to predict the future, so if the Magic Key pass benefits would change in the future, I cannot say how it would work out. However, I can tell you that I was a Magic Key holder in 2022, when the Magic Key pass program added some benefits. At that time, the new and current Magic Key holders all had those benefits on the day they went live.

I always look forward to the little extras that are put out from time to time for Magic Key holders, like exclusive merchandise and food offerings. I just recently visited the parks for the kick-off of the 70th Celebration, and I had a fun time seeing the MagicBand+ activations that corresponded with the opening day attractions. I thought it was a fun touch to see the tickets acknowledged if you were a Magic Key holder.

Robyn, thanks so much for stopping by!

Meet the Panelist: Carrie, California

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
