Hi David,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for bringing another great question to us!
When I make room location requests, I do so through
My Disney Experience when I use
online check-in. Even if I am familiar with the resort, I always double-check a resort map online to make sure I am requesting the right location. My advice is to submit that location request as early as possible and then, once you receive the notification that your cabin is ready, be sure to check the cabin assigned. At times, I have received that notification via text message, but the assigned room was not where we requested. I then called the phone number in the text message and a Cast Member was able to find a room in the area we preferred.
Consider your cabin location request carefully. On one visit, we did not get our requested room location at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Although a Cast Member from the resort called the day after we checked in to offer us a room in our preferred location, we chose to remain where we were - the room was a bit of a walk to the main building, but we had gorgeous views of Bay Lake. I would agree with your strategy - being close to transportation and the main entrance is important. Since we are typically using one of the Disney Dining Plans, we also prefer to be near a dining area so that we can easily refill our resort refillable mugs! When you go to enter that cabin location request online, if you cannot enter your preferred option, then
contact the Walt Disney World Resort and ask a Cast Member to note that request on your reservation.
David, I am sending some special pixie dust hoping you get the cabin location that best meets your needs!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
