If I am already at Disneyland is it too late to add a park hopper for California Adventure. If it's allowed, how much is it?

    Hi there, Sharon,

It's always a good time to go looking for more Disneyland Resort magic! In most cases, it is possible to upgrade a Disneyland Resort theme park ticket, including to add features such as the Park Hopper option. Generally, there are only a few requirements to meet in order to upgrade a park ticket.

    1. The ticket must be upgrade-eligible. Most tickets are eligible. So this isn't usually a worry. But there are a few such cases to be aware of, such as complimentary tickets.
    2. To be upgraded, a partially-used ticket must not yet have expired. It must also be upgraded before midnight of the last day of use. Most standard tickets expire after the date indicated in the Disneyland mobile app or, in the case of standard multi-day tickets, 13 days after the first day of use, whichever comes first. Some promotional tickets, including the current offer available to California residents, are only subject to the end expiration date.
    3. The value of the new ticket or pass type must be greater than the value of the original ticket type.

If an upgrade-eligible ticket is wholly unused and the expiration date has passed, it may also still be upgraded to a new ticket of equal or greater value.

To upgrade a theme park ticket, look for the "Change Ticket" option on the Tickets and Passes screen of the Disneyland mobile app. Or visit the Change Your Theme Park Tickets page on the Disneyland Resort website. The cost to upgrade will be the difference between the current-day price of the new ticket or pass type and the actual price paid for the original ticket. Note that some upgrades, such as adding Park Hopper and Lightning Lane Multi Pass will apply to all days of the new ticket type, even days that may have already been used. That is, there aren't ticket types with those features that prorate the cost for only a portion of the days. With such upgrades, it's to your advantage to upgrade sooner rather than later to take full advantage of those additional benefits.

Note that if the ticket type changes during an upgrade, existing theme park reservations may need to be re-booked. Some examples of changing ticket types include changing from a promotional ticket type to a standard ticket type, or from a ticket to a Magic Key pass. Before upgrading a ticket, it may be helpful to verify that reservations will still be available for the new ticket or pass type by checking the Theme Park Reservation Availability or the Magic Key Park Reservation Availability Calendar.

I hope you enjoy doubling the fun with your Disneyland Resort tickets, Sharon. Please let us know if you have any more planning questions or even if you'd just like some recommendations for things to do while visiting The Happiest Place on Earth or other Disney Parks destinations.
