If I already have 4-Day Park hopper tickets and just need to purchase an 8-day/7-night resort stay, Can I purchase a dining plan?

    Hi Biankha,

Welcome to planDisney. It’s always a pleasure getting to chat with a fellow Sunshine State neighbor. Sounds like you are planning a magical staycation, and those are my personal favorites! So, without further ado, let’s dive in!

Biankha, when you book a package at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Dining Plans can only be added to a package that includes both a Disney Resorts Collection hotel stay and theme park tickets purchased together. Because of that, dining plans can’t be added to a resort-only stay, even if you already have valid park tickets in hand. I’ve encountered this as an Annual Passholder. But like Timon and Pumbaa would tell us: “hakuna matata”; no worries! There are a few options that might help you make your dining plan dreams come true!

If your current tickets haven’t been used yet, you might be able to modify the purchase into a package with the dining plan and tickets. If you want to go this route, call the Tickets and Hotel Reservations line, where a friendly cast member will be able to assist. Just let them know you’re interested in upgrading your tickets into a package that includes the dining plan, and they will be able to provide you with all your options.

If you’d rather keep your tickets separate and just book the resort stay, you won’t be able to add the dining plan, but I’ve found that buying Disney gift cards in advance helps me budget for my meals. And although it’s not that true package feel, it gives me a little more flexibility to not have to track credits and be able to enjoy any meal or snack on a whim, knowing I have a pixie-dusted stash ready to cover all those Mickey pretzels, Dole whips, and even character meals! Bonus tip: You can get them discounted at several big-box stores, helping stretch those Disney dollars even further!

My biggest tip? Price it both ways. Sometimes repackaging the tickets makes total sense, and sometimes what you already have is the best move. A quick chat or call with Disney Resort Reservations can help you compare your options and see what fits your vacation style best.

I hope this helped answer your question! Please come back and see us if you need any more tips or for any planning questions. It’s our pleasure to help you dream up and create the most magical visit to the most magical place on Earth!

    See ya real soon,
