If we already booked our room but not our tickets, can we add tickets? There were no ticket specials for our trip dates when we booked so I decided to wait but it looks like I should've booked them together for the best deal?

Hey Howdy Hey Misti and welcome to planDisney!

I am so excited to hear that your room is reserved for your upcoming vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort later this year. It sounds like we need to discuss your options on theme park tickets. You've got a friend in me to guide you through this situation and help you purchase those tickets!

At this point Misti, you have 2 options. You can purchase your tickets separately and keep your room-only reservation or you can change your booking option to a vacation package that includes your tickets.

The easiest thing to do would be to purchase your tickets separately. You can do this online and they will be connected to your My Disney Experience account immediately after your purchase. As you may have found, when doing this, the pricing for tickets may be a bit higher compared to purchasing as a vacation package. So this may be a little extra but a lot less of a headache to get done.

Converting your current room-only booking into a vacation package is a little more difficult. You can do this yourself online or you can call Disney and have a Cast Member change this booking for you. If you wanted to do this online, this would involve canceling your current reservation and making another one that would be included in your vacation package. The current terms and conditions state that if you cancel more than 5 days from your date of arrival, you get a full refund minus any third-party additions. Typically if you book only a Disney Resorts hotel, there are no extra fees. I would recommend searching for your exact availability dates and putting down your deposit for your vacation package before you cancel your room-only reservation. This will ensure you have a place booked for your vacation and will not run the risk of being completely without a room.

The first time I had a similar situation come up, I called Disney and explained my predicament. The Cast Member was able to make the changes for me without running the risk of canceling my reservation and everything was taken care of quickly. Entirely up to you on your next step!

I hope you can get your vacation package situation resolved so you can get back to the fun of planning your vacation. Please let us know if you have any other questions, we are always happy to help!
