We already booked our honeymoon stay at the Pop Century in May. I am thinking of surprising him and upgrading to a moderate or deluxe resort, which of each tier would you reccomend, and how would I go about upgrading? We haven't paid the full balance yet.

    Kristy:

Great idea to upgrade! You only need to talk to your travel agent or Disney, but make sure it's before 45 days out as changes do incur a penalty. My thoughts:

    Moderate:
Port Orleans-French Quarter.  My husband & I celebrated our 15th Anniversary there and I wasn't disappointed with our quiet, corner room with a beautiful view of the Sassagoula River! The resort offers carriage rides and a free boat to Downtown Disney. It's a smaller resort with spot-on theming. ROMANTIC.

Semi-Deluxe: Animal Kingdom or Wilderness Lodge. If you two like rustic, one of these may fit the bill. Both have better pool experiences than POFQ and the rooms are larger and plush down to the bath products. WL houses Artist's Point where I recommend the buffalo steak and risotto.  AK hosts Jiko with tender steaks that can be cut with a fork! A Savannah view (and its animals) gives AK the leg up. ADVENTUROUS.

Deluxe: The Contemporary's views of either Bay Lake or Magic Kingdom make it memorable and my choice. The Polynesian's poolside Volcano, lei-making, dance lessons and nightly torch ceremony soar it to the top for theme. However, mousekeeping has been hit or miss from several of my friend's trips. As much as I'd love to recommend it, my stay at The Contemporary in December was fabulous, and your honeymoon isn't a trip to chance. The Grand Floridian appeals to many honeymooners, but if you don't stay on the Concierge level, your room may be a bit inconvenient. You'll get more value out of a Moderate or Semi-Deluxe.

    One-Bedroom Villa-Boardwalk/Beach Club:
If you have the money, both of these saddle the Boardwalk, and bestl, come with a jacuzzi!  A lake-view is a must-request if you stay at Boardwalk. But the pools at Beach Club are hard to turn down.

    Wishing y'all a magical honeymoon!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
