if I already have an annual pass but want to go on days my pass doesn't work. Can I buy tickets and apply them to my annual pass after?

Hi Devin! From one Magic Key holder to another, welcome to planDisney! There are so many benefits to having a Magic Key pass – I hope you've been enjoying a year of memorable visits to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Devin, you are welcome to purchase a standard theme park ticket to visit on a day that your Magic Key pass is blocked out. However, the price paid for that ticket cannot be applied towards your Magic Key payment. Guests do have the option to apply the price paid for one eligible theme park ticket towards the purchase of a new Magic Key pass, subject to restrictions. It wouldn't be applicable in this case, however, since you already have an active pass. Keep in mind that each Guest can only hold one Magic Key pass at a time.

One option to consider is upgrading your pass to a higher tier with fewer blockout dates. This is only possible if the desired pass is available, and you’d need to pay the difference in cost at the time of upgrading. The expiration date of your pass won’t change, and the cost isn't prorated, so it usually makes the most sense to upgrade early on. You can also look into upgrading during your renewal window, depending on what passes are offered.

While you explore your options, Devin, don’t forget to enjoy the many benefits that come with being a Magic Key holder! There are typically seasonal extras and experiences throughout the year. Check the Magic Key Portal in the Disneyland mobile app or visit the Disneyland website to view exclusive merchandise, dining opportunities, special offers, and more. I really enjoy getting lunch at Magic Key Terrace inside California Adventure. If you haven't been there yet, make a reservation and stop by during your next visit!

This is a great year to be a Magic Key holder, between the 70th Anniversary Celebration and seasonal experiences like Halloween Time and the holidays. Make sure to follow the Disneyland Magic Key account on Instagram and check the Disney Parks Blog often to stay in the know. And if you have any other questions, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney!

    Wishing you magic,
