Aloha! Planning 1st Aulani trip. Very excited about our 1st ever family trip to Hawaii. So we are thinking about a 1 bdrm suite for us 4. Is an ocean view necessary or are the other views great also? I was also wondering about night time entertainment.

Aloha Ari!  Thanks for asking me your Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa question at the Moms Panel! You have every reason to be excited about your family's first trip to Hawaii - be prepared- it will probably not be your last!  When choosing a view you need to consider how much time you'll actually be spending in your room, viewing from your balcony.  We had an ocean view suite as well, and to be honest, were disappointed with the "ocean view".  If we looked way off in the distance, and over top and to the right of the parking structure and hotel next door, we could see the ocean.  I am told that really only the end units have an actual ocean view. This being said, my next choice would be pool view - which is really quite lovely, or an island view. The standard view rooms face the parking structure and would probably be my last choice.

All of your day and night entertainment options will be available to you on the Daily 'Iwa - a newsletter that will be delivered to your room every morning with that days events and hours. (If you've ever sailed on a Disney Cruise, it is similar to your personal navigator.) The Starlight Hui, is a Hawaiian style show, complete with Disney friends, that runs twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. Another favourite that we enjoyed was the nightly fire-pit storytelling with Uncle -Hawaiian folklore told in a fun and musical way by some really interesting cast members. There are also 'Ohana Disney Movie nights that have games and activities prior to showing the movies.  If you are interested in an adults only option, you can send the kids to Aunty's Beach House up until 11 pm, while you and your wife enjoy some live music outdoors by the 'Olelo Room, which is a really lovely lounge.  My husband and I really enjoyed doing this - it was just such a beautiful way to spend the evening.

Hope this helps Ari - please don't hesitate to ask me any more questions you have!
