Hello, Doug and welcome back! Here at planDisney we are more excited to see a returning guest than Maui was to be reunited with his hook!
Doug, If you have a teenager who loves history, culture and music,
the Sunset Mele is the place to be. While the North Shore Beach Zone is a more active, game focused gathering, the Sunset Mele is meant to be a representation of the Hawaiian culture through music and storytelling. While this IS a teens-only option, let's talk about a few activities that are family friendly.
First, if you (or any of the Mouseketeers in your party) like pin trading, I'm happy to report that you'll see this beloved activity at
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. Make sure to check on the daily 'Iwa for the Kālepa’s Store Pin Trading Hour.
Next, for a fee there are two great choices for those in your family hoping to stretch their creativity: the Ohana Painting Party and the Make your own Mickey Ears. While these experiences aren't offered every day, you will find times listed on the daily 'Iwa.
Now, if the above has you feeling a little "stuck" NOT in the sun, my fellow panelist, Courtney B., also let me know that you can rent beach equipment at Makiki Joe's for a small fee. Whether you'd like this to be a "teens-only" activity or fun for the full crew is utterly up to YOU!
Doug, my last recommendation is to download the free
Aulani Resort Mobile App even if your trip is still months away. Here you can check the daily (and weekly) offerings, special activities and become a Master Wayfinder
(of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa) before you ever step foot on the resort! Doug, I feel certain if Moana had this app she would have found Te Ka much faster in the sea!
If you have any additional questions, I hope to SEA you here again at the Lagoon...
opps! ER- I mean, planDisney where we love EVERY Magical destination.
