Aloha Magic Makers! I am participating in my first Run Disney event, the Wine and Dine, in November at WDW. How early do I need to arrive to pick up my bib, and what time do the participants start lining up? Can you do stop and do rides during the race?

    Hi Virginia! Welcome to planDisney.

Every mile is truly magic during any runDisney event. However, I must confess, that the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is my absolute favorite. To address your first question, let's talk about the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. Bibs must be claimed before your race event at the Expo which begins on Thursday, November 2, 2023. For Thursday only, runDisney will utilize a virtual queue system to access official runDisney merchandise. Expo Day is so much fun and you can meet Jeff Galloway himself. The expo will be open on Friday and Saturday as well.

As your event gets closer, a digital guide will be released with all those essential times concerning official bus transportation if you stay at a Disney Resort Collection Hotel. If you are driving, I highly suggest an early arrival to avoid high traffic and road closures. In the past, I usually set my alarm for 2:00 AM to catch the first bus to the pre-race party with character meet-ups and a fun DJ party. Corrals will open to racers a short time later where you can claim your spot in your designated starting group.

During your race event, you can expect unique entertainment and character photo opportunities. While I do not know which event you are participating in, most events finish before the theme parks and attractions open for the day. Although, my husband may have jumped on Expedition Everest during the Disney Marathon back in 2019. Remember, you must maintain a 16-minute pace and not get caught by the famous "balloon ladies." My nerves were shot when he decided to spend those precious minutes on a roller coaster.

Good Luck and Have a Blast for your Race,
    Cindy
