I have an almost 2 year old and a 7 yr old I had read somewhere that one parent could ride with the older child and then the other parent could ride without having to wait in line again. Is this true and how does it work if so?

    Hi Melissa,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Yes, you are correct, and you are referring to Disney's Rider Switch Service. Let me explain a bit of how this works.

If you come upon an attraction that your older child wants to experience but your younger one cannot or does not want to, ask the cast member at the front of the attraction if the attraction has Rider Switch service. If so, generally what will happen is that one parent and the older child will be given a Rider Switch pass, and they will ride the attraction. While this happens, the other parent and the younger child can experience other attractions. When the first pair is done riding the attraction, they located the second pair and hand off the Rider Switch pass. At this time, parents generally switch which child they are with, so that the parent who was initially with the younger child is now with the older child. This new pairing can head back to the attraction, present the Rider Switch pass, and ride without having to go through the line again. This service helps many families to have a smooth and enjoyable experience at Walt Disney World!

As you continue to plan your trip, be sure to check out the Walt Disney World with little ones planning page. This page has many ideas and tips for traveling with your young child. Also, please do feel free to return to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any further questions, Melissa!
