Hi Hillary,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You have just a few weeks left before your Walt Disney World Resort vacation – hurray! You are counting down to the best, most magical fun in the sun, and I’m so, so excited for you.
The
Family Suites at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort are a great choice, giving your family some extra space for sleeping and hanging out while on vacation. In your room, you’ll find a kitchenette area that includes a microwave, coffee maker, and dorm-sized refrigerator. The refrigerator does not include a freezer compartment, so in order to keep the contents of your cooler bag cold, your best bet is to bring some large, resealable bags with you. Each morning, make a stop at the ice machine (they’re usually found close to the elevators) and fill a couple of the bags with ice to keep inside your cooler with your cold items. Remember that loose ice in coolers is prohibited according to Walt Disney World's
Park Rules, so those bags are a must-pack. In the theme parks, stop by a Counter Service restaurant to request ice when you need to refresh your supply. You can also ask for complimentary cups of ice water – it’s important to stay hydrated in the Florida sun!
Hillary, I hope this helps you as you make your plans to “do what frozen things do in summer.” I love visiting Walt Disney World in summer, but when you’re feeling hot, hot, hot, be sure to stop and rest, drink water, and find some shade. Pack your hats (we even bring wide-brimmed hats for pool time and
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where the sun feels stronger to me than the other parks), and you might even want to consider bringing a cooling towel or portable fan. The Disney Parks Blog just featured the most adorable
handheld fans inspired by Disney snacks, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the Dole Whip version! Which reminds me: a key component of
staying cool in the summer sun at Disney World? Ice cream! My favorite is the iconic
Dole Whip, but there are so many cool and refreshing treats all around the resorts, theme parks, and Disney Springs. Have an icy blast this summer!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
