Ahoy there, Steve!
What a MARVELous idea you have to cruise on the Disney Magic with a
Marvel Day at Sea. All Asgardians will agree that you are bound to have some MAGICal experience onboard, including family trivia, Animation Academy, and hero movies in the Buena Vista Theatre.
Disney Cruise Line is known for its safety and maintains a zero weapons policy. Toys are looking more and more authentic every year, so it's no surprise that anything resembling a real weapon would be on the
Prohibited Items list. The only toy exceptions to this are lightsabers, plastic pirate swords, and plastic Thor hammers. So a foam Thor hammer would also be fine.
Although I’m not as clear what type of mask you have that resembles a full Thor beard, It sounds really cool! Disney Cruise Line does an excellent job of informing Guests about
what to expect while on a Disney ship. Here’s what I found about appropriate face coverings: they should fully cover both the nose and mouth, allow the Guest to remain hands-free; fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face; be secured with ties or ear loops; and be made of 2 layers of breathable material, either disposable or reusable, that is not elastic in nature, such as spandex and elastane. Based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings. Also, costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn.
One of the best things about a Marvel Day at Sea is seeing those favorite characters. I’ve heard that the World Security Council has allowed Thor, Captain America, Loki, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Star-Lord, Gamora, and Captain Marvel to sail these select voyages (subject to change). I hope you have the chance to get a photo with Thor while sporting your mask and wielding his hammer. Watch out-he may be jealous!
Please come back to planDisney if we can chat more about your cruise-it’s what we love to do! Have a blast on your Marvel Day at Sea voyage.
