Hello, Bradey! Welcome to planDisney! This question seriously makes me
swoon with happiness!
Like the answer we are all hoping you hear, YES! You are absolutely allowed to propose at
Disneyland Resort. Honestly, I cannot think of a more magical place to start the first day of the rest of your life with your sweetheart!
I have a few ideas to help make your big moment feel extra pixie-dusted! First, consider purchasing
Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It can help you spend less time waiting and more time soaking up the magic, and it also includes
Disney PhotoPass with unlimited digital downloads, which will be a great way to capture this amazing memory! When it comes to where to pop the question, I love classic, romantic spots. One of my longtime friends got engaged at Snow White’s Wishing Well near Sleeping Beauty Castle, and it was storybook-sweet. The photos turned out beautifully! They have been married for 24 years, so it must be a good luck spot!
Speaking of great photos, you can also chat with a Disney PhotoPass Cast Member about availability for a PhotoPass “excursion,” which is a short 10 to 15 minute mini photoshoot in a few nearby locations around Disneyland. If you discreetly share that a proposal is coming, they can help you set up the moment and capture that once-in-a-lifetime reaction! Don't worry if you don't get a chance to tell them, they are great at spotting the big moments as they are happening.
Another sweet spot is near the flowerbed by the
Disneyland Railroad, right inside the entrance. It is iconic, it is charming, and it gives you that perfect Disneyland sign that hangs over the Depot Station for photos! Of course,
Sleeping Beauty Castle makes an eye-catching backdrop for the perfect proposal, too.
After you get that magical YES!, head to the
Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. and pick up the wedding Mickey or Minnie ears with the little top hat or veil. Then stop by Guest Relations for a complimentary “I’m Celebrating” or "Happily Ever After" button that you can have personalized to mark the occasion!
If you would rather keep things a little more low-key, you could also book a table-service meal at a romantic spot like
Blue Bayou Restaurant or
Carthay Circle Restaurant. With delicious menus and an upscale vibe, either one would be a wonderful place to pop the question!
Bradey, congratulations! I am celebrating 17 years of my own happily ever after, and I still remember our engagement day like it was yesterday. Also, if you are already dreaming beyond the proposal, Disney does host
weddings too!
Please come back and
let me know how it goes! I would love to hear your happily-ever-after update, and I am here if any other questions pop up along the way, including anything Disney wedding-related. Thank you for bringing your question to us, and I am so excited for you!
Cheers!
Kimberly
