Hi Tommi-Leigh,
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for asking a very important question about your
My Disney Experience account. I love technology, especially the digital tools that help make the magic of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I’m also passionate about security and am happy to help you figure out what’s best for your vacation, and your account.
I’m worried for you that there may be offers to help you with
Genie+ by allowing a stranger (you said third-party service, so I assume not a family member) to access your account and book attractions or purchase Individual Lightning Lanes on your behalf. While this sounds like a kind offer to help, I fear it is like the poison apple the Evil Queen offered Snow White – danger in disguise.
First, the other person would be in violation of the
Disney Account Terms and Conditions. In Section E, Accounts, it reads “you agree not to impersonate or misrepresent your affiliation with any person, including using another person’s username, password or other account information.” You should protect your information by never allowing others to log into any account (Disney or otherwise) on your behalf. My Disney Experience contains your personal addresses, credit card information, and connections to friends and family that could be taken advantage of by someone with villainous intentions. Please see the
My Disney Experience Account Terms and Conditions here.
Second, I want to reassure you that Disney Genie Service was designed with everyone in mind to help you make the most of a theme park day. I fear any third-party offers to do this for you would incur an additional cost, introduce many identity security risks, and just isn’t necessary for you to have an amazing day. Please s
ee these videos for an overview of the options with Disney Genie, Disney+, and Individual Lightning Lanes. My good pal Jennifer beautifully illustrates
a day in the theme park with it here.
You may add trusted, real-life people to your
Friends and Family list and you can help reserve Genie+ attraction times for each other or your traveling party while on vacation together.
I hope this helps understand the dangers of allowing a third-party service access to your Disney account, Tommie-Leigh. Our personal information and our identities are precious treasures to protect as we go Into the Unknown of the digital world every day, on every device. Thank you for asking this critical question, as it may help others reading this guidance to protect their own privacy and identity. You're a security hero!
Please
reach out to me directly if you’d like to continue our conversation. I’d love to help you with more details to organize your My Disney Experience account, understand Genie+, and how to have a practically perfect, low-stress vacation!
Stay safe,
Amy
