Are we allowed to paint half of our face for Day of the Dead celebration?

Hi Angel! Thanks for visiting planDisney.

Face paint celebrating the Day of the Dead can be stunning! I understand wanting to celebrate in this way. However, park rules state that Guests 14 and older can't wear costume masks. Face paint falls into a grey area. If you decide to wear face paint, you'll want to ensure it doesn't cover your entire face and doesn't obscure or conceal too much of your identity. I can't guarantee you won't be turned away at the security entrance with your Day of the Dead face paint. It is always up to security what or who can or can't enter the parks safely, and your face paint might prove to be too elaborate for entry.

That would be a not-so-magical outcome. I suggest erring on the side of caution when designing your face paint. If the face paint is a problem for entry, be prepared to remove it. I like to bring facial wipes with me on my vacations. They're easy to pack and you can easily through a small pack in your bag or a good-sized pocket. Also consider other festive touches that won't present an issue going through security, such as Day of the Dead-inspired floral headpieces or ears.

Be sure to head over to El Zocalo Park in Frontierland at Disneyland Park for the Dia de los Muertos event, featuring food, art, and cultural displays. I bet you could get some great photos in your festive look for the day. We took some family photos in El Zocalo Park on our most recent visit and the colors were so vibrant and made for a beautiful background. They might end up being featured on our holiday card this year!

    I hope this helps!
