Am I allowed to call my resort and have them charge my credit card now, so that when I get there, I can pay for my dining with my magic band and charge it to the room in order to make the trip more budget friendly since there is no dining plan right now?

I so appreciate and relate to your desire to take care of the not-so-fun parts of vacationing (budgeting) now, Christopher. That’s a great way to make sure that you maximize your relaxation when you arrive.

While it’s unlikely that you will be able to charge a desired amount to your credit card prior to arrival, you can employ the same technique. Instead of charging a credit card, just purchase a Disney gift card for that desired amount. After you arrive, you can go ahead and charge your dining purchases to your resort room. Every couple of days, you’ll need to visit the front desk, present the gift card and ask that they charge your folio purchases to the gift card. It’s important to do that because once you acquire a certain amount of charges, they would otherwise bill the credit card on file. Alternatively, you could just use the gift card to close out your bill at the restaurants in which you dine.

I hope this helps, Christopher. And I hope we can all begin enjoying the Disney dining plan again soon!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
