Welcome to the Moms Panel Debbie! We're glad to have you hEAR!
I have found Disney to be a great place to visit for Guests with Special Needs. I am not sure to what extent your son's physical challenges are but Disney offers
rooms for Guests with Disabilities at all of their resorts with a variety of accommodations to try to meet each Guest's specific needs. For those with mobility issues they offer:
* Wider bathroom doors
* Roll-in showers
* Hand-held shower heads
* Accessible vanities
* Bathroom rails
* Bed rails
* Lower beds & rubber pads
* Open frame beds
There are so many wonderful Disney Resorts & each is unique. Keeping in mind a reasonable budget, I'd suggest one of the moderate resorts. Sometimes Disney has
special offers that brings the cost of Moderate Resorts close to that of a Value Resort.
We've stayed at all of the Moderate Resorts but
Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite. We love being able to take a boat to Downtown Disney. If your son has trouble navigating stairs, be sure to request a building with an elevator or a ground floor room. When making any special requests, prioritize them. Disney does everything they can to meet special requests but keep in mind they are requests & not guaranteed. Make your requests at the time you make your reservation. I also call about a week ahead to confirm my requests are noted on the reservation and mention them upon check-in.
I'm limited in space for my answer but happy to further assist you if you'd like to visit again. Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
