    Allison - We are going to WDW next month and are staying at the Beach Club. We have breakfast reservations at 8:20 in Hollywood Studios, but the park does not open until 9:00. What time do the Friendship boats start running? Would it be easier to walk?

    Kimberly, sounds like you have an exciting day at Hollywood Studios planned and having a reservation for breakfast before the park opens will give you some great views of the park as you walk in with little or no crowds. So, be sure to take advantage and snap a few pictures as you make your way to your dining location!

    General rule of thumb on transportation start times is about an hour before the park opens for the day. So, the Friendship Boat should start running at around 8am. Now, this is no guarantee and the boat ride is a very slow one, in my opinion, due to the slow pace of the boat in addition to all the stops it makes along the way. So, walking may be a faster option. Obviously, your walking pace could be affected by how quickly your kids will walk. However, it is much easier for them to walk at the beginning of the day rather than at the end, if you know what I mean. The walk could take about 25 minutes at an average pace with little or no stopping. The boat ride could take up to 25-30 minutes and that doesn't include wait time. 

    There is also a "special character meal bus" for guests with early morning reservations prior to park opening. These bus routes and times vary from resort to resort, so check with a front desk cast member the evening prior to your reservation and let him/her know when and where your early morning reservation in the park is, and he/she will be able to tell you where and what time to catch this transportation.
