Allison, I am the mom to a special needs child. My son is autistic. He is 6 yrs. old. Is that to old to put him in a stroller. We also have a 3mo and he will be in his stroller. He's a runner and that is my concern. we havea jog stroller is that ok?

    Hi Tina,

My DS8 has CP & uses a larger special needs stroller instead of a wheelchair so I do not think that 6 is too old for a stroller as long as he is comfortable in it - otherwise he may become cranky. If he is comfortable in your jog stroller, that should work fine. If you do not think he'll be comfortable in the jog stroller all day, there is a local vendor in Orlando that rents special needs strollers for kids up to 100 lbs They offer free delivery to Disney resorts & Disney area hotels. You will have to fold strollers on some forms of Disney transportation (i.e., buses & trams). You will not have to fold them on the monorail or the ferry between the TTC & MK.

Visit Guest Relations, explain your situation & request a Guest Assistance Card for your son which will alert CMs at each attraction he requires special assistance. The GAC will allow him & up to 5 other members of your party access to alternate queues where available. If decide to use a stroller for your son, also request a band to go on the stroller & a stamp on the GAC indicating that so he will be able to use it while waiting in line at attractions - otherwise you will be required to park it in the designated stroller parking areas.

If your son is a runner, I think you'll find it less stressful for all of you if you are able to push him in a stroller. Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you. Your question went into the general pool and I just saw it today. If you have any other questions about special needs (or anything else), I'm honored to assist you and help make this a super trip for your whole family.  Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
