Hi Lisa! I'm so glad that you brought your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is always exciting, but there is so much to take into consideration. Your question about standard rooms vs. rooms that offer a view is a good one!
When my wife and I take into account all that Mickey's Florida resort has to offer we rank resort choice high on the list! However, once we select the resort of our choice, we usually opt to save a few dollars by booking a standard room rather than a room offering a special or unique view. Our feeling is that we spend so little time actually in the room, that the view isn't really a priority for us. One of my favorite Disney characters is Uncle Scrooge McDuck. His penny-pinching ways may have rubbed off on me just a bit!
Specifically at
Disney's Pop Century Resort a Preferred Pool View will give you a view of the Hippy Dippy Pool and will get you within proximity of dining, shopping, and transportation. A Standard Room will give you a view of either a parking area or of another part of the resort. A Preferred Room would allow you to enjoy sights such as a courtyard or landscaping and would also get you closer to dining, shopping, and transportation. Proximity to dining and transportation is nice if you are traveling with little ones. Finally, a Standard Pool View would provide you with views of either the Bowling Pool or Computer Pool.
Lisa, one of the advantages of Disney's Pop Century Resort is access to the
Disney Skyliner! This special mode of transportation is only available at a few resorts and you picked one of them! This ride through the sky will link you to Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT!
