Hi Shannon, and welcome back to planDisney! We’re so happy you came to see us again in our little magical corner of the world. It sounds like you have an exciting group adventure ahead at Walt Disney World Resort! As a teacher who travels often with my students, I know that planning for food allergies is one of the most important things to think about before your trip. This has become a bit of a specialty for me, so I’m happy to be able to help!
One of the many things I love about Walt Disney World is that they have excellent protocols in place for Guests with food allergies. I encourage you to read about Disney’s approach to
Special Diets Requests and how your group members with food allergies can ensure they receive meals that meet their needs. At quick service locations, they can ask for an allergy menu when ordering. Many locations also show allergy-friendly options online, so you can preview the menu in advance. In fact,
Everything POP Shopping & Dining that you mentioned in your question, shows their allergy options online. Just scroll to the bottom of the menu to see the allergy-friendly meals.
Allergy menus include items that are prepared without the ingredients the FDA considers the most common allergens, including eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat, as well as gluten. It’s important to communicate with the Cast Member when ordering what the food allergies are, so they can be marked on your order. When you receive the order, there should be a special allergy marker such as a pick or sticker. If you don’t see this, it is important to ask and always confirm that the order has been prepared according to the special dietary request.
Shannon, I hope this gives you peace of mind that your group members can safely enjoy their meals at Walt Disney World. If you have any more questions,
come back and see me. I hope you have a magical vacation and many delicious meals!
Your pal,
Casey
