Hi there, Jennifer!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! With your adventure to Alaska coming up so soon, I know you must be getting excited! You are going to have the best time exploring Alaska and will make some WONDERful memories with your family! My family heads to Alaska later this summer and we, too, are anxiously counting down until our own adventure gets here!
Your dog sledding excursion will be so much fun! My husband and I took our two boys to Alaska when they were itty bitty, and we went to the Summer Dog Sled Camp and had a great time! Since our boys don’t remember it (one was strapped to me in a carrier and the other one was asleep the entire time!), we plan on taking them again this summer! When it comes to attire and gear, I think your plan is great! If you are going to the
Dog Sled Summer Camp, tennis shoes would probably be sufficient since the dog sledding is on a paved course, but if you are going to be on a glacier for dog sledding, duck boots would provide the perfect support and warmth! Definitely pack and dress in layers during your adventures on land – and onboard as sometimes the common areas get a little chilly!
Make sure your boys take advantage of the onboard
Youth Clubs – while I don’t yet have teens, I know those big kids have a great time making new friends onboard and participating in events and activities just for them in Vibe! And, your nine-year old will have a great time doing his own thing in the Oceaneer Club and Lab with activities perfect for his age! If they have smartphones of their own, you will also want to make sure they have the
Navigator app that has a chat feature which allows Guests to communicate while onboard!
Wishing you a magical and memorable adventure!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
