    Hello! At AKL- how late are the pools open till? Also is the 24hr arcade free? Do they have anything else cool to do at the resort- we are staying there our last day with no plans in the Kidani village and have dinner reservations at Boma. Thanks!

    Hi Shannon,

    I just visited friends staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge last week.  What a gorgeous resort!  You are wise to set aside a whole day to enjoy the amenities at this magical place.

    I called the Cast Members at the resort this evening to confirm the pools' hours of operations.  At present the Uzima Pool (at Jambo House) and the Samawati Springs Pool (at Kidani Village) are both open from 7 am to 11 pm.  I have read in at least one travel guide that these pools are open 24 hours but the Cast Member I spoke to this evening said that is not the case.  As a guest at Kidani Village or Jambo House, you are welcome to use either of these pools.  Can you imagine how relaxing it would be to kick back in one of the poolside lounge chairs with a good book and tropical beverage?  Oh, I'm jealous.  I want a day to spend at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge too!

    When you check in at the resort, be sure to take a close look at the schedule of activities you'll find in your welcome folder.  You'll be amazed at the vast array of cultural and educational events that are available to resort guests.  Be sure to take some time to speak to the animal specialists who answer questions about the stunning animals who inhabit the savannas surrounding the resort.  You can even do some animal-spotting at night through night-vision goggles.

    The arcades at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge are not free.  As with most arcades, you pay as you play.  There is also a fee if you have children who wish to participate in Camp Kidani (the children's activity center).

    Enjoy your evening meal at Boma.  It is one of my favorite buffets in all of Walt Disney World.  Be sure to try one of the amazing home-made soups and leave room for their tasty zebra dome desserts.
