We will be at AK-Kidani Village when Monsters University is released. Will there be any special celebrations going on to mark the release? Will it be playing anywhere at WDW? Perhaps at the AMC Theaters in Downtown Disney?

    Hi Elizabeth,

The timing of your question is perfect! Just a few days ago, Walt Disney World announced a Monsters University Bash to be held every day throughout the summer, beginning June 14, at Hollywood Studios. The party begins at 6 p.m. Details are available on the Disney Parks Blog.

As I'm sure you know, Disney kicked off its Monstrous Summer celebration last month with its 24-hour All-Nighters at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. Throughout the summer, you are going to find lots of buzz about the movie at the parks.

We were very excited to see the "Monsterail" movie-themed monorail on our recent visit. And the Monsters University gang will be greeting guests in a special Backlot area of Hollywood Studios.

I am positive that Monsters University will be showing on several of the 24 screens at AMC Movies at Downtown Disney. I can tell you from experience that it is a special treat to see a new Disney or Pixar film during your Disney vacation. My family saw Up at the Downtown Disney theater on opening weekend in 2009.

Here's wishing you a monstrously fun vacation! Please let me know if I can answer any other questions before you depart. Enjoy!
