how do we get from ak to AKL for a dinner reservation at Bomas? And about how long might it take?

Hey there, Marcia.  Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Your vacation to the most magical place on earth is just a few short months away. I bet you are getting so excited!

Boma - Flavors of Africa is such a great choice for dinner one evening during your vacation if it opens between now and then. Currently, due to a phased reopening, Boma - Flavors of Africa remains closed. If you are able to snag a reservation during your trip, it is easy to get there from Disney's Animal Kingdom. What you'll do is simply exit the theme park and head to the bus loading and drop-off area. You'll be looking for the bus marked for Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, hop on board and it will take you straight there. Since the theme park and resort hotel are so close, the bus ride is only about 5 minutes.

If Boma - Flavors of Africa isn't open during your trip, there are still great places to eat at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Sanaa is a great back-up option. On the menu, you'll find dishes with an African and Indian flare. My favorite menu item happens to be the Indian- style bread service. The appetizer has a choice of five breads with 9 different accompaniments like hummus, chutneys and savory jams. It's a fan favorite and I hope you'll give it a try if you decide to dine there. The restaurant also has a beautiful view overlooking the Savannah which features over 30 different animals and makes for a wonderful evening. Another restaurant with similar flavors that might interests you and is currently open is Kona Cafe. Located at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, which is also just a bus ride away from Disney's Animal Kingdom. The menu there is full of flavorful dishes with a variety of sushi, Asian inspired pot stickers, sticky chicken wings, noodle bowls and so much more. I've eaten there the past few trips I've taken to Walt Disney World and have not been disappointed.

Marcia, I hope you are able to eat at Boma - Flavors of Africa on your next trip to Walt Disney World. But if not, there are many other great restaurants at Walt Disney World to choose from. Be sure to keep an eye on the restaurant reopenings and updates before your trip. If you have any other questions as you plan your vacation, I'd love to help.

    Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
