Hi Donna, Welcome back to planDisney! As a fellow Virginian, I’m happy to help you understand the best way to get from the Commonwealth to the fabulous Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Your trip will be at the most wonderful time of the year as the theme parks and resorts will be in full holiday mode! The largest airport near the Walt Disney World Resort is Orlando International Airport (MCO) but you can also fly into Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). I have always flown to MCO for my trips as it’s the larger airport and we have many direct flights from one of the three major airports in the Virginia-Maryland-Washington, D.C. region on many airlines. I find Orlando International Airport very easy to navigate and there are even Disney shops inside for last-minute purchases! There are several options for getting to the Walt Disney World Resort from the airport, including reserved coach buses, car rentals, or ride share services. Depending on your family size and amount of luggage, there is a solution that meets your needs! If you’re staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, the Bell Services team will hold your luggage and even receive groceries until your room is ready so that you can begin to slip into “vacation mode” right away.During your special vacation, I hope you make time to enjoy the incredible sights and sounds of the holiday season Donna. Some of my favorite, can’t-miss holiday activities include:
I hope this helps get your transportation logistics arranged so that you can begin to plan the other fun aspects of your vacation soon! Please let us know if you have additional questions along the way; we’d love to help you make the most of it.Wishing you a magical vacation, Amy
