Can I use an air mattress in a family suite? The pull out sofa bed typically makes my son’s back hurt. We would only have 4 people in the family suite total. We would not be exceeding the capacity of the room, just looking to make him comfortable.

Hiya, Jennifer, welcome back to planDisney!

We’re happy you stopped by again, and hope you enjoyed your anniversary trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth this past April. It was such a lovely spring at Disney World — I bet you have a lot of lovely memories from that trip. Now, let’s help you generate some new magical memories with your family.

Your choice of a Family Suite is a great one. I personally adore the Cars Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation — I think they are my favorite rooms on Disney property!

I did a lot of digging to find an answer for you, Jennifer, and I decided to contact a Cast Member that specializes in Disney Resort Hotels for you to make sure I gave you the most accurate information on this subject. My new pal, Brenda Lee, was able to verify that, as per current safety protocols, air mattresses are not permitted at any Disney Resort Collections Hotel. She did let me know, though, that you can request a mattress pad to make the sofa bed more comfortable. These are based on availability, so make sure to request this at the Front Desk as soon as you possibly can upon arrival.

Keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog as you near your trip, Jennifer, as there will be announcements and updates as you near your trip. If you have questions or want any additional tips before your adventure, please feel free to visit us again at planDisney any time!

Have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow,
    Allyn
