Ahoy panel, I am uber excited for my first cruise and just had one question about the stateroom, is there a way to ensure I get a room we it’s a large port hole to view the water as we are selling.

    Hi Tatiana!

Welcome back to planDisney! I am uber excited FOR you that it’s your first cruise. And a Very Merrytime sailing at that, which will be so much fun. This magical itinerary will be the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit!

As Moana would say: “See that line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me.” Sounds like it calls you too since you are wanting a great seaside view from your stateroom. Let me first say that so much depends on what stateroom category you have booked.

Since you mention a large porthole, my guess is that you are booked in an Oceanview stateroom. Based on what deck the stateroom is located, those can have either one larger porthole or two smaller ones. While the Deck Plans for all the ships do not show the portholes for each individual stateroom, you could possibly do an internet search if you know your stateroom number already as there are sometimes photos showing specific staterooms. Another way to determine if your stateroom has one porthole or two would be to call Disney Cruise Line and a Cast Member will gladly help you.

If you happen to have a reservation that is guaranteed room type, then you do not yet know your assigned stateroom. When you choose a GTY (Guarantee) stateroom reservation, Disney Cruise Line guarantees that you will be assigned a stateroom equal to or better than that category level prior to your sailing. You could get sprinkled with pixie dust and receive an upgrade with a better stateroom category than you paid for. The tradeoff is that your stateroom number may not be assigned until a few weeks or days before you set sail. So in that case, it will just have to be a surprise!

I must warn you though: with all the activities and entertainment onboard and fantastic Port Adventures, you may be surprised how little time you end up spending in your stateroom! Regardless of the number of portholes, sounds like your stateroom will offer that view of the ocean that you are craving!

Enjoy planning your Very Merrytime Cruise with Captain Mickey and his friends. And don’t hesitate to come back to planDisney and chat with us again!

    Happy Sailing!
