Hi Shannon!
Wow, your Walt Disney World plans sound like a real adventure! You can indeed make an entire trip from spending time at all the resort hotels and Disney Springs without setting foot in one of the theme parks. So I totally understand wanting to know everything that is available to do!
Of course, as a planDisney panelist who adores Disney Cruise Line, I am all about nautical and watercraft activities. Glad you immediately thought of me as I’m always happy to be associated with ships and boats no matter where they are found!
Like you, one of my nostalgic favorites is the
Sea Raycers. Wind in my hair, a speedboat at my control...where do I sign up? Any mini-speedboat is fine by me and my family because they are so fun to captain. I love that kids ages 12 and older (and at least 5 feet tall) can have this ultimate driving experience. (Of course, parents/guardians must give their blessing for kids ages 12 to 18 years old to pilot these speedsters.)
Shannon, I am sorry to say that for now, you’ll have to stay a landlubber because Sea Raycers are not available for rental. But I’m sure that the coming months will bring news of this experience reopening and it will be smooth sailing ahead! Here’s what I recommend instead: take a cruise aboard an
Amphicar, which is a fully restored car that can transform into a boat. Your captain will chauffeur your party on a 20 minute tour around Lake Buena Vista at
Disney Springs. After you’re done, hopefully you'll say it’s become a new sentimental favorite just like the Sea Raycers.
Just a stone's throw away is
The BOATHOUSE, one of my favorite restaurants and definitely for those seeking nautical vibes, delicious seafood options, and fabulous lakefront views. While there, you may want to try the Duck Duck Razz, a fun cocktail that boasts a floating rubber duck in the glass! Money saving tip: For a limited time, if you have your meal first and then do an Amphicar, you’ll receive a $25 reward toward the Amphicar Tour with a purchase of $50 or more at The BOATHOUSE (receipt required).
Hope this information has made a SPLASH with you and that you are all SHIPSHAPE to make your plans for your Walt Disney World escapade! FLOAT back over to planDisney anytime you have more questions.
